American vs British Quiz

Click a level to begin.

This one mixes it up on purpose: some questions play a word in real American or British audio and ask which accent you heard, others show a word and ask you to pick the matching IPA transcription, and a few break from audio entirely to test AmE/BrE spelling (colour vs color) or vocabulary (lift vs elevator). Levels move through the four core sound shifts — rhotic /r/, the TRAP-BATH split, T-flapping, and the LOT vowel — before a capstone level of words that differ dramatically between accents, like "schedule" and "advertisement."
